August 28, 2024 | < 1 min read

In a significant development, a bench of Calcutta High Court today gave the green light to the Bengal government to recruit teachers for upper primary classes. Thus, after eight long years, recruitment of upper primary teachers in state government schools will resume.

A total of 14,052 vacancies will be filled up by the Bengal School Service Commission (SSC), which has been embroiled in several cases regarding recruitment of teachers for various levels of school education.

The High Court has given the SSC up to four weeks for completing the counselling and recommending the final list of candidates for the posts.

As per the order, the list must include the 1,463 people whose names were wrongly removed from the final list published earlier, a case which is being heard for a few years now.
