Budget session from January 31

January 14, 2022 | < 1 min read

The budget session of Parliament will begin from January 31. The announcement was made through a press release by the Lok Sabha Secretariat today (January 14).

“The Eighth Session of the Seventeenth Lok Sabha will commence on Monday, the 31st January, 2022,” said the release. It added that “the Session is likely to conclude on Friday, the 8th April, 2022”.

The budget session is not a continuous session, though. A gap of about four weeks is given to allow the relevant parliamentary standing committees to scrutinise the Demands for Grants of the various ministries and departments, as put up in the budget document, and come up with their reports. These reports are then debated in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

The press statement, therefore, mentions that the budget session will adjourn on February 11 and reconvene on March 14.
