Big B’s name wrongly linked to Ram Mandir film

A news was broken by the news agency PTI on Friday evening that Amitabh Bachchan has been requested by the Shri Ram Temple Construction Committee to lend his voice to a film narrating the story of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. The statement was issued by the committee’s chairman, Nripendra Misra.

However, the actor has denied making any such commitment. A source close to the family said the family was not aware of either any requests by the committee or any commitments made by the actor. The source also said that the news agency did not check with the office of Amitabh Bachchan before reporting the news.

The actor’s wife, Jaya Bachchan, also an actor, is an MP in the Rajya Sabha representing Samajwadi Party, a major component of the Opposition.

It may be mentioned here that a committee comprising Prasoon Joshi (lyricist-poet and chairman of Film Censor Board), Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi (film director), Yatindra Mishra (writer) and Sachidanand Joshi, Secretary of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi has been formed to oversee the production of a film on the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
