January 31, 2024 | < 1 min read

All the 146 MPs—100 in the Lok Sabha and 46 in the Rajya Sabha—suspended during the Winter Session of Parliament will return for the Budget Session, the final session of 17th Lok Sabha that commenced today (January 31).

This was decided at the meeting of floor leaders of all parties before the session.

While 132 MPs were suspended till the end of the session on December 21, the cases of 14—3 in the Lok Sabha and 11 in the Rajya Sabha—were referred to the respective Privileges Committees of the houses.

They were suspended for protesting against the government’s lack of response to a security breach, by bringing placards into the chambers and frequently disrupting parliamentary proceedings.
