The Tourism Department of the Bengal government has decided to make arrangements for tourists staying in the state-run resorts to visit the major Durga Pujas in close proximity to the places.

Spanning across the state, the department has 32 resorts maintained by West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited. According to a senior official of the Tourism Department, the resort managers have been asked to inform the tourists about the different Pujas in and around the places and arrange vehicles for visiting those places to observe the rituals, as per the tourists’ choice.

Since October last year, the department has also been providing a platform to folk artistes to perform on a regular basis at its tourist properties.

However, the advent of the second wave of COVID-19 stalled such activities. As a substitute, the department is now planning to take tourists to villages close to resorts for showcasing folk culture and handicrafts, the official quoted earlier added.
