CAG praises Bengal for 100% account reconciliation for 2020-21 fiscal

September 6, 2021 | < 1 min read

The Bengal government has been lauded by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) for 100 per cent achievement in reconciling both the expenditure and receipts of the transactions made by the departments of the state government during financial year (FY) 2020-21.

The CAG, in a letter to the state Finance Department, said it is all the more encouraging that this was made possible amidst the period of lockdown and disruptions in functioning. The active and continuous involvement of the Finance Department in its full capacity clinched this achievement for the government, the CAG said.

In September last year, the national auditor had also praised the state government for achieving “for the first time” 99.62 per cent expenditure reconciliation and 100 per cent receipt reconciliation of the departmental transactions for FY 2019-20.

The state government’s leading role in extensively developing Bengal’s financial infrastructure has led to the formation of a working, transparent system, say financial gurus.
