Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy are set to reintroduce Rakhee Gulzar to the Bengali audience. The director duo’s production house, Windows Production has announced its upcoming film, Amar Boss, where Rakhee will take on the lead role.

This comes amidst the successful run of their critically acclaimed film, Raktabeej.

Nandita Roy has written the story and screenplay for Amar Boss, in which Srabanti Chatterjee too has a significant role.

Rakhee’s last appearance in a Bengali film was in Nirban, directed by Goutam Halder, which, despite being showcased in festivals, did not have a theatrical release and therefore, went unnoticed by many.

Consequently, the last Bengali film that audiences associate with the 70s Bollywood star is Rituparno Ghosh’s highly successful Shubho Mahurat.

Nandita Roy has conveyed her enthusiasm for collaborating with Rakhee Gulzar, saying that she holds ‘Rakhee di’ in high regard and had the desire to work with her for quite some time. The concept of Amar Boss was developed with her in mind, she said.
