Bengal Global Business Summit: “Stupendous success”, declares CM

The seventh Bengal Global Business Summit ended today with a valedictory session addressed by the chief host, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Alipore.

The conclave was a triumph for Bengal, with “fabulous pledges for investments” in the state “from captains of industry”, according to a tweet by her.

A total of Rs 3,76,288 crore worth investment has been promised by the international and national business representatives, including several business leaders from the country and abroad, according to her.

She also declared the signing of 188 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and the announcements of “a large number of new industrial policies for creating [an] enabling environment”.

The two-day conclave, with sessions spread over the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan (opposite Science City) and Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium (in Alipore), was attended by “400 international delegates, representatives from 17 partner countries, business and official delegations from nearly 40 countries and 15 Ambassadors and High Commissioners”, further declared the chief minister in her tweet, thus making it “a truly globally participatory event”.
