Cricket World Cup starting today

The Men’s Cricket World Cup will start today. The last World Cup’s finalists, England, the defending champions, and New Zealand will clash in the first match at the Narendra Modi Stadium (formerly Motera Stadium) in Ahmedabad.

India is being captained by Rohit Sharma.

Since the first match will start in the afternoon, there will be no opening ceremony.

Ten teams are taking part—(in alphabetical order) Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

India is currently the top-ranked ODI team, while the lowest-ranked playing team is the Netherlands, at number 14, which came up through the qualifiers.
