Today, India achieved its highest-ever medals tally in Asian Games. The Hangzhou Asian Games has provided India with a rich harvest of medals—and a little more than four days are still to go. The event closes on October 8.

As of writing this story, India’s total stands at 81, made up of 18 gold medals, 31 silver medals and 32 bronze medals. The latest medals to come are a gold in the men’s 4x400m relay, a gold (Neeraj Chopra) and a silver in men’s javelin and a silver in the women’s 4x400m relay.

The earlier highest was 70 medals, won at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. To add a little more excitement, India’s 71st medal was a gold—won by Ojas Pravin Deotale and Jyothi Surekha Vennam in mixed team compound archery.

In individual events, as expected, Neeraj Chopra won the gold in javelin throw by a mile. Avinash Sable added a silver in the 5000m to his gold in 3000m steeplechase.
