November 18, 2022 | < 1 min read

After Nisith Pramanik, now an arrest warrant has been issued against another BJP Union minister from Bengal—John Barla. The judicial magistrate from Tufanganj issued the arrest warrant for Barla’s absence during the hearing, despite sending a notice, on a 2019 parliamentary election code of conduct violation case on November 15.

The tribal leader from north Bengal, also an important tea workers’ union leader, who is the MP from the Alipurduars constituency, is the Union minister of state for minority affairs.

The case relates to the then Lok Sabha candidate’s taking out a motorcycle rally in the Alipurduars constituency, as part of his election campaigning, without taking police permission. The case was registered at the Bakshirhat police station, which started the case after a court order.
