Bengal starting Covid testing for the homeless

Bengal has decided to do COVID-19 testing even for those who have no homes. Vagabonds, especially in the urban areas, where they usually abound, would be tested for the novel coronavirus, a move which has been much appreciated by experts.

Not just testing, those who return positive tests would be admitted to hospitals as well for treatment, at no cost to them.

Along with collecting samples (nasal swabs) for testing, these vagabonds would be provided with masks and bottles of hand sanitisers, since they cannot afford to buy them.

The state’s Health Department is coordinating with the civic bodies of Kolkata, Howrah, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas districts to conduct this project successfully.
