COVID Patient Management System

Bengal starts COVID Patient Management System

Bengal recently started the COVID Patient Management System (CPMS), through which family members of COVID-19 patients admitted to hospitals would be easily able to know the latest health status of the patients with the click of a mouse.

CPMS is accessible through the website of the state Health Department. On submitting the name of the patient, an OTP would be sent to the mobile number submitted while admitting the patient. On keying in that OTP, the latest information about the patient would come up on screen – health status, blood pressure, whether there is fever, etc.

All hospitals have been instructed to regularly upload every important data on a patient – date of admission, date of release or death, health-related parameters on a daily basis.

The system (CPMS) would be in place at all the 84 COVID hospitals in Bengal within seven days of launch. A group of 96 doctors have been given the responsibility of keeping the system updated. These doctors are also the ones who are responsible for running the 24-hour seven-days-a-week telemedicine facility.
