Bengal to celebrate Police Day on September 1

The police have played a stellar role in helping combat the coronavirus. In order to create a better bond between the police and the common people, September 1 would henceforth be celebrated as Police Day in Bengal.

Another appreciable move taken by the state is the starting of common gradation for the police force. No longer would male and female personnel be graded separately, so that women get equal opportunities for promotion. This decision to bring about parity in promotions and perks would also result in more enthusiasm among women for joining the police force.

A third decision that was taken recently is the reorganisation of the Police Welfare Board, so that the personnel get better opportunities to put forth any issue they may face to the proper authorities.
