Arjun Singh keeps his options open about leaving BJP

May 17, 2022 | < 1 min read

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Barrackpore, Arjun Singh, who had been critical of the Union government’s policy on the jute sector and attitude towards the party’s state unit, met party national president JP Nadda on Monday.

The meeting went on for almost an hour and, according to sources, the MP seems to be set in his mind on returning to Trinamool Congress (TMC). He joined the BJP from TMC in March 2019, just before the Lok Sabha elections, which he won.

Just after the meeting, Singh said, “Whether I am staying or not in BJP, you will get a clear answer in the coming 15 days.”

Sources say that talks are almost over with his previous party about returning, adding that the BJP leadership, however, does not want him lose him.
