Bengal, in partnership with UNICEF, providing parenting classes for mothers of Anganwadi kids

The department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare (WCD&SW) in collaboration with UNICEF, will reach out to parents of 27 lakh children enrolled in anganwadi centres across 23 districts of Bengal, in an unique programme to provide them essential parenting skills to enhance the impact of positive parenting in the formative years of childhood.

The programme was tailor-made for parents and early learners enrolled in anganwadi centres of the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) through home-based early childhood care and education and parenting programme.

The attempt is to continuously enhance its outreach to include children from remote areas and improve its inclusiveness. From an outreach of 7 lakh 93 thousand (26%) in May, the coverage in June went up to 10 lakh and 71 thousand (32%), and over 14 lakh (54%) by the end of August.
