‘Molested’ Bengal Raj Bhavan employee to write to President Murmu seeking justice
The day after Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose publicly aired multiple CCTV footages from Raj Bhavan, purportedly to address allegations of molestation leveled against him by a contractual female employee of the governor’s residence, the victim announced her intention on Friday to seek intervention from President Droupadi Murmu.
The employee objected to the public display of unedited footage, claiming that her identity was exposed since her face wasn’t blurred, according to a report from The Times of India.
Expressing little confidence in the Kolkata Police, whose hands are tied due to Governor Bose’s constitutional immunity, the victim stated that she was experiencing severe depression and believed that writing to the President was her only avenue to justice.
“I understand that due to constitutional immunity, no action will be taken against a sitting governor. But what about the offense he committed? I have chosen to correspond with the President in order to seek justice, and nothing more,” the purported victim told PTI.
Expressing her indignation over the public screening of footage without safeguarding her identity, the victim also indicated her intention to seek recourse through the police.
She regarded the public airing of the May 2 CCTV footage as an “insult” and accused the governor of further violating her privacy and confidentiality while lamenting the “lack of cooperation from the governor” throughout the investigation process.
“How could the governor display my footage without my consent? He committed a fresh offense today,” she remarked.
