Adani became the world’s second richest, but only briefly; Musk leads by a mile

September 16, 2022 | < 1 min read

Gautam Adani and family, as an entity, became number two in Forbes’ real-time billionaires’ list. While this is being bandied about by a lot of media, the fact is that the entity occupied the number two spot only for a brief period.

By today afternoon, as reported by NDTV, Adani had slipped back to the number three spot. He had overtaken Louis Vuitton-Moet Hennessey’s Bernard Arnault (and family) to become number two. Last month too he had overtaken him, but to grab the third spot as the second spot was then with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.

The frequent changing of positions s because of the fact that the list is based on real-time values of the companies owned by these people on share markets.

However, in all this tussle for positions, it must be remembered that the first spot is occupied by Elon Musk, and he is number one by a long shot.

Musk is the owner of companies like Tesla (electric-vehicle maker), SpaceX (space shuttle company) and a few others.

His current net worth is $273.5 billion while the wealth of those in the second, third and fourth spots are in the 150s and 160s (billion dollars).
