Like last year, this year too the Kolkata Police has issued special guidelines keeping in mind the precautions that need to be kept because of the pandemic and also general precautions.

With less than a month left for Durga Puja, the Kolkata Police has issued special guidelines that need to be followed by the organisers, keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind.

Apart from making wearing masks and maintaining social distance compulsory, the organisers will also have to follow certain directives, most of which have been imposed seeking to prevent a surge in COVID-19 cases.

The guidelines are as follows.

  • Only those having received both doses of the COVID0-19 vaccine would be allowed to act as volunteers.
  • The labourers working late shifts for completing the pandals will have to carry a special pass provided by the police.
  • In order to avoid crowding, the pandals need to be spacious enough.
  • The roof should be open so that there is more than enough circulation of fresh air.
  • There should be separate entry and exit points for visitors.
  • An ample supply of masks and sanitisers should be kept for the visitors.
  • Idol immersions must be completed by October 18.
  • In order to prevent accidents from electrocution, the Puja committees must ensure that the electricians working for them are trained by the CESC.
  • The Puja organisers must receive training from the Fore Department on preventing outbreaks of fire.
