Parliament’s winter session from Dec 4 to 22

The government announced today that the winter session of Parliament would begin next Monday, that is, December 4, the day after the results of the elections to five state assemblies (Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram) would be announced.

“Winter Session, 2023 of Parliament will commence from 4th December and continue till 22nd December having 15 sittings spread over 19 days,” Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said.

Some of the key bills likely to be taken up:

Bills to replace the Indian Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Evidence Act. The Standing Committee on Home Affairs has recently adopted these three reports.

Bill pertaining to appointing the chief election commissioner (CEC) and election commissioners (EC). This is pending from the monsoon session.
