INDIA coalition delegates to visit Manipur on July 29 & 30
A group of 20 delegates, including several MPs, from the 26-party INDIA coalition will visit Manipur on July 29 and 30 to assess first-hand the situation which has arisen from the ethno-communal strife that broke out on May 3.
Leaders from several of the Opposition parties, including Rahul Gandhi from Congress, have already visited the state’s refugee camps, but this will be the first fact-finding committee representing the INDIA coalition, which came into being on July 18 in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, the Union government, after doing little for so long, ignoring the desperate pleas of community groups and affected families, has of late opened up talks with leaders of both Kuki-Zomi and Meitei communities.
