The revolutionary manhole and sewer-cleaning robot, Bandicoot has been introduced in New Town, near Kolkata. New Town is the first place in Bengal to introduce the services of this robot.

Debashish Sen, chairman of New Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA), which looks after the civic services of the smart city, said Bandicoot will enhance the capabilities of sanitation workers and provide a time-efficient solution. He also said that the device would be introduced in Kolkata as well.

Kerala-based Genrobotics is the manufacturer of this robot, which has been employed in several municipalities across the country.

The robot does away with the need for human involvement in the cleaning process. The remotely-controlled robot with its advanced bucket system also does not take much time.
