DigiYatra becoming popular at Kolkata Airport
The use of the government’s DigiYatra app is becoming more and more popular at the Kolkata Airport, helping in the easing of congestion during boarding.
DigiYatra is a facial recognition technology that makes terminal entry and security clearance at the airport a seamless, hassle-free, and paperless process.
On an average, from Kolkata, of the 25,000 passengers who board domestic flights daily, 4,000 use the DigiYatra app. In terms of percentage, the percentage has increased from 13 per cent in April to 22 per cent in June, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport Director C Pattabhi told The Telegraph.
He also said that only AirAsia and Akasa Air are yet to enable their flights with the facility.
Staff helping passengers use DigiYatra, called Digi Buddies, have been deployed at various points in the terminal.
