Wrestlers’ protest: Bengal CM joins solidarity march

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave the call for the arrest of the former Wrestling Federation of India chief and BJP MP, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at the end of her march today in Kolkata in solidarity with the protesting wrestlers.

The rally, comprising sportspersons, past and present, from Calcutta and nearby districts started from the Hazra crossing and culminated at Rabindra Sadan, a distance of 2.5 km.

Banerjee joined the rally, sports minister Aroop Biswas, at the Exide crossing.

As she walked, she waved a black placard which read ‘WE WANT JUSTICE’. She promised to “fight” till they got justice.

Earlier, she had called up the wrestlers over phone to endorse their protest.
