Cyclone Asani: Scattered heavy rain in southern Bengal, heavy rain in northern Bengal
The possibility of a big deluge in southern Bengal due to Cyclone Asani has reduced to scattered heavy rain, from 70 to 110 mm, in five districts—Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Nadia—today and tomorrow, according to the IMD office in Alipore.
The latest prediction also warns of heavy rain in five districts of North Bengal—Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar. Incidentally, these five districts are also popular tourist destinations.
Fishermen have been warned from venturing into the sea till Friday, May 13.
